Trademarks printed 19th and 20th century
The first printed marks appear during the period of d'Huart de Nothomb. They will develop very quickly with the new techniques because they will make it possible to better assert the identity of earthenware but also to differentiate the references of the decorations and to bring a very worked design for the services or prestigious pieces. The advantage will also be able to reference them by period which is a major asset for the identification of old Longwy earthenware.

At first the printing will be done by transfer or the mark is engraved on a metal plate coated with ink-enamel. A passage to the rotary press applies the mark on a sheet of paper which is transferred to the piece of earthenware to deposit the ink. Sometimes the process of lithographic printing will be used but requiring a cost and the intervention of specialists. Around 1970 it will be the method of screen printing that will replace the engraving. At the end of the 19th century and see at the beginning of the 20th century it will be used printing by rubber stamp at a low cost and speed of installation.
