Privat museum in Montigny les Metz
Museum dedicated to the presentation of glazed faience objects, glasses and art crystals from Art Nouveau to Decorative Arts.
The association which manages the museum to for president and founder Philippe OLLAND, messin of origin, made a commercial career in publishing. Art lover and also a collector, he has been interested for years in the art of glassmaking and enamels from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
If glass artists from the École de Nancy, such as Émile Gallé and Daum, are well represented through the public collections of the Musée de Nancy School and those of the Musée des Beaux-Arts, we found it useful, even indispensable, to present the immense diversity and innovations of dozens of other creators of this period, many of whom are from our region.
The collections exhibited in the museum, consisting of about five hundred pieces, are loaned to the association by the founders and private collectors. This presentation of works illustrates the immense creativity of French glass and enamel craftsmen between 1870 and 1940, from Art Nouveau to Decorative Arts. The creations, the biggest names of this fruitful period in innovation are exposed.
A magnificent and rich collection of enamels from the LONGWY pottery from their origins around 1872 to the 1950s is present at the museum.
